How easy it is to get everyday products delivered to your home
26. april | AV PÅ(FYLL)™
Did you know that if the whole of Norway ordered laundry detergent through På(fyll), we could save 753,690 kilos of plastic waste in one year?
At the home of sustainability queen and sewing entrepreneur Ingrid Bergtun, there has rarely been more control over everyday products. At least when it comes to soap storage. That’s thanks to the new circular service På(fyll), which she is a big fan of.
With the help of a few keystrokes, she can have all her hand soap, washing-up liquid and other everyday favourites conveniently delivered to her home.
‘In everyday life, there’s always something to remember, but we never actually run out of detergent anymore. It also feels fantastic that we save so much packaging and rubbish. It’s a small thing, but that’s what really matters,’ says Ingrid.
Back to the ‘old days’
She recently moved into an 80s detached house in Ekeberg in Oslo with her partner and 18 months-old daughter. The house will be renovated in the long term, but her approach to the little family is to enjoy the process.
‘It’s nice to know that the other things in life are in order - without it requiring too much effort.
‘As long as we have what we need, we can spend more time on what we want. It just arrives at the door. A bit like the milkman in the old days.’

How På(fyll) works
- Click through to the På(fyll) online store, select the products you want and order them.
- Ding dong! The products are delivered to your home. Now you can pour soap into smaller dispensers
- When the container is empty, scan the QR code on the container to order a refill.
- Put the empty containers in the reusable box they came in and put it where it was delivered. The containers are collected, washed, refilled and sent out to other customers.

100% circular service
As well as being beneficial to you, På(fyll) is a service that can save the planet a huge amount of single-use plastic. The refill containers replace 3×300 ml disposable dispensers that you buy in the shop.
And if all of Norway ordered everyday products through På(fyll), we could save 753,690 kilos of plastic waste in one year, according to Bård Bringsrud Svensen, COO and co-founder of På(fyll).
‘No matter how you slice it, single-use plastic will create a waste problem. If we are to become more plastic-smart, we need to think in new and different ways. It requires a small change in behaviour, but no more than most people can manage,’ says Bård.
The service started with an idea to sell products and at the same time build a system that returns the packaging to På(fyll)’s circular value chain.
Everything in one place
På(fyll) is not a subscription, and you choose when you need new products. The range is based on the products most Norwegians use in their everyday lives, such as Zalo, Jif kitchen spray and Omo laundry detergent.
‘We believe that making more sustainable choices should not be expensive or difficult. You just need to make a small change, and then you'll have your laundry, cleaning and soap needs covered. In addition, there's one less thing to remember - and the shopping bags become a little easier to carry,’ says Bringsrud Svensen of På(fyll).
Bergtun fully agrees.
‘I recommend it to almost everyone I talk to. Most of the people I socialise with are parents with young children or entrepreneurs who have busy weekdays with lots of work.’
Here’s how we can save 7,823,249 kilos of plastic with På(fyll)
- If the whole of Norway switches to På(fyll) for floor cleaning - and we assume that the floors are washed once a week with a bucket of green soapy water - we can save 753,690 kilos of plastic waste in one year.
- If we switch from disposable plastic laundry detergent to reusable containers, we can remove 1,535,015 kilos of plastic in one year. That’s based on an average of four laundry loads per week.
- If everyone uses På(fill) to refill hand soap - assuming each of us washes our hands 11 times a day - we could save 5,531,544 kilos of plastic waste every year.
- One På(fyll) container of Klar Hand Soap replaces the use of three regular hand soap dispensers. Each of these weighs approximately 34 grams. This means you save 204 grams of plastic per reusable container you choose.
- In total, this adds up to 7,823,249 kilos of plastic waste every year. That’s as much as the weight of 195 houses weighing 40 tonnes each.
